Prague
Prague
is a beautiful, magical and romantic place. The trip was rather
spontaneous and short, only 3 days. But I would never regret that I
decided to go so abruptly. The main sights are situated in downtown,
but even if your hotel is not in the center of the city, like it was
in my case when I stayed at Olšanka,
you can still enjoy the walk to downtown, every building is a piece
of art.
There are a lot of trees and flowers around and brick sidewalks. If you
are lazy, you can use underground, it’s cheap. There are only a few
lines of underground, because the city is not as big as megalopolises
like New York or Moscow. The green line goes through all city and
over the river, so it’s suitable for people who want to get to the
main sights. My hotel was situated near Flora station, but I
only used it once. There is a big mall called Atrium Flora for
shopping lovers and a gothic looking graveyard for those who have
dark tendencies or are interested in history.
When
I left the hotel in the morning on the first day, I decided to walk
along Ondříčkova street and further to the center. There I found a
strange looking television tower with figures of climbing babies on
it and a lot of amazing buildings.
This
last building of Metro Museum you may have already seen in my other
post about Starbucks.
If not, you can check out what I found in that area. After Starbucks
I walked further along Wenceslas Square, Jindřišská street and Panska
street and came back to Central Railway Station. On the way back to
the hotel I bought some strawberries and decided to have some rest on
the bench in the park called Riegrovy sady. There I looked at the sky
and found out that I had forgotten time and had to go the hotel or it
would be late. The clouds were already heavy. I made it to the hotel
almost in time, still got very wet. Prague weather is very
unpredictable. So it wasn’t surprising that the next day it
was rainy.
This
time I decided to use underground and go across the river. There you
can have a full view of the city from the high hill, where a lot of
beautiful sights like St.
Vitus Cathedral
and Prague
Castle
are situated.
On
the way back to the Old
Town I
saw a lot of nice old carts, cars and trams. I’m a fan of
such things.
I
think everyone should visit Prague at least once. It’s an amazing
old city. And it will take only a few days to see all the sights.
The trip there definitely won’t be boring.
Staying
there is cheaper than in the most famous cities of Europe and it has its
own charm. There won’t be enough pictures to show all of its
beauty.
I
don’t want to load you with a lot of historical facts and names,
all of that you can easily find in travel guides if you’re
interested. Just wanted to share that magical atmosphere with you.
